ANKARA - People's Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party İmralı delegation has returned from İmralı after met with Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
Delegation members Wan (Van) MP Pervin Buldan, Riha (Urfa) MP Mithat Sancar and Asrin Law Office lawyer Faik Özgür Erol held a 3.5 hour long meeting with Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı Island. The delegation is expected to make a written statement tomorrow.
At the beginning of the process, the İmralı delegation, which included Sırrı Süreyya Önder and Pervin Buldan, first met with Abdullah Öcalan on 28 December 2024. The second meeting of the delegation was held on 22 January. İmralı Delegation members Pervin Buldan and Sırrı Süreyya Önder, DEM Party Co-Chairs Tuncer Bakırhan and Tülay Hatimoğulları, politician Ahmet Türk, DEM Party MP Cengiz Çiçek and Asrin Law Office lawyer Faik Özgür Erol met with Abdullah Öcalan. In this meeting, Öcalan made his historic call for peace and a democratic society.
Pervin Buldan and Faik Özgür Erol met with Abdullah Öcalan as the İmralı Delegation on 21 April while Sırrı Süreyya Önder was being treated after suffering a heart attack. Pervin Buldan and Faik Özgür Erol from the İmralı Delegation held a new meeting with Abdullah Öcalan on 18 May following the PKK's historic congress held on 5-7 May.
The İmralı Delegation, which included DEM Party Riha MP Mithat Sancar along with Pervin Buldan and Faik Özgür Erol, held meetings on 6 July and 25 July. The delegation had last visited İmralı Island on 28 August and held a meeting.
