AMED - Citizens who set out in the morning hours to participate in the Amed Newroz and waited to enter the area stated that they have been living with the excitement of Newroz for days and said "We want our leader to be liberated".
Under the leadership of Peoples' Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) and Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA), Newroz is celebrated with the slogan "Rêbertiya Azad Civaka Demokratîk (Free Leader, Democratic Society) - Democratic Society for Freedom". Citizens set out early in the morning for the celebration to be held in Rezan (Bağlar) Newroz Park. Citizens coming towards the Newroz area with their local clothes from 7 to 70 had to walk for minutes to reach the entrance gates due to the closure of the roads. Amed (Diyarbakır) citizens, who risked the side streets and muddy roads to go to the area, continue to wait at the entrance gates to enter the area.
ENTRANCES STARTED AT ONE POINT
The entrances to the Newroz area started on Yenihal 1st Street, National Garden side. Citizens added colour to the area with the local clothes they wore. Citizens entering the area wished that Newroz would be instrumental for peace and brotherhood.
'MAY IT BE CONDUCIVE TO PEACE AND FREEDOM'
Özlem Gültekin, who came from Xana Axpar (Çınar) with her husband and her disabled son in a wheelchair, said, "We woke up at 06.00 in the morning and set off with the excitement of Newroz. My son wanted to come to this Newroz even though he is disabled. I had not brought him to the previous Newroz, but I promised him and brought him to this one. He has been living with the excitement of Newroz for days. At the same time, we want this Newroz to be an occasion for peace and brotherhood and we want our Leader to be liberated."
