AMED - While tens of thousands of people in Amed are waiting at the checkpoints to enter the Newroz Park, the enthusiasm in the area is increasing with each passing minute.
The celebration to be held in Newroz Park in Rezan (Bağlar) district of Amed (Diyarbakır) under the slogans "Rêbertiya Azad Civaka Demokratîk (Free Leader, Democratic Society)" and "Democratic Society for Freedom" has not started yet. However, the enthusiasm for Newroz spread all over the city in the early hours of the morning. Tens of thousands of people started to enter to the area from many points of the city.
EVERYONE FROM 7 TO 70 ON THE WAY TO NEWROZ
Entry to the area from 6 checkpoints continues. Young people marched in cortege from many points to the area. Chainting "Bê serok jiyan nabe (Without Leader there is no life)", "Bijî Serok Apo (Long live Leader Apo)" and "Political prisoners are our honour" slogans, the youth participated in the celebrations wearing local clothes.
The crowd gathered in the vicinity of Yeni Hal and kept dance fo a long time. The enthusiasm of women and young people witnessed colourful scenes. Another point of arrival to the are was Qamishlo Boulevard. Women wearing local clothes marched to the area with the slogan "Jin, jiyan, azadî (Women, life, freedom)". 7 to 70 people participated in the march. Peace Mothers also entered the area with the slogan "Bijî Newroz, Bijî aşitî (Long live Newroz, Long live peace)". Young people accompanied the mothers and chanted "Bijî Dayikên Aşitî (Long live Peace Mothers)" slogan.
LONG QUEUES AT THE GATES
Long quesues formed at the gates. Yellow, red and green coloured banners were confiscated at the same checkpoints. This caused the reaction of the crowd. Due to the long queues at the checkpoints, elderly people who participated in the celebrations with their walking sticks had to wait for a long time to enter the area.
As the arrivals from all over the city continued, the area started to fill up. Tens of thousands of people who were able to enter the area danced with Kurdish melodies.
Posters of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan are being passed around the area and the enhusiasm in the area is increasing with each passing minute.
